I believe in the Power of Five:

  1. Passion
  2. Pride
  3. Purpose
  4. Profits
  5. Perception
  • PASSION fuels the courage it takes to be a great leader and stand up against conventional wisdom. When your are passionate about creating a result you want to achieve, it gives you the courage to be different and avails you with the power to overcome your fears and use those emotions to your advantage.
  • PRIDE in what you do and who you are, makes you stand-up tall, unafraid, totally confident and unstoppable. How would you like to feel like that every second of the day? No matter what your business is, nor what your life is like, if you are proud of it, and live with PRIDE, you are already a WINNER.!!!
  • PURPOSE is what gets you out of bed, what fuels your Passion, your Pride, and your sense of Profits. Knowing “why” you do what you do brings into the open your life’s purpose and your driving force.
  • PROFITS is your given right to create a bottom line that provides you with the lifestyle you want for yourself, your family and those you care about. Profits support your business plans, your vision, your mission, and your dreams.
  • PERCEPTION is what puts all of the above into the lens of your own truth, which you must own. However, you must also develop the ability to change perception. By making perception your ally, you understand that you can change your perceptions, that you can create change within yourself, and that you can also change situations to continually serve your life’s purpose. You become a Master of Meaning -- and perception becomes power.

Last, but not least, always remember to “promote” yourself, shamelessly, with pride, dignity, honesty and integrity. This is your life, live like you mean it!!!!

  • Managing Overwhelm

    October 10, 2005 (I)

Have you ever noticed how people react when they have had it UP to here and they can’t take it anymore? Has it happened to you?

It’s called “Overwhelm” ~ so what do we do with it, we ask?

First, we put it into perspective. How do we do that? Here are a few examples:

    • We change the situation
    • We change “our Perception” of the situation
    • We leave the situation
    • We cope with the situation

Then, we prioritize. We make a list and slowly begin to discern the “MUST DO’s” by putting numbers or symbols indicating the level of urgency. From there, we take ACTION towards the most important item on our list.

As a result of the recent devastation of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the neighboring Gulf cities, we witnessed first-hand many examples of prioritizing to manage overwhelm. Did you notice how the Heroes took care of priorities very quickly, while the non-heroes just froze with an eerie inability to act?

Helping others is NOT new to our readers nor the writer, but helping in biblically, devastating proportions IS. Who knew that no matter what, we had the internal fortitude to go out of our way to help. This is where Pride and Courage kicks-in. We all need Courage to face and manage our own overwhelm.

The moral of the story is:

    • We show courage whenever we are called upon
    • We show courage whenever we are needed
    • We show courage because we are human beings helping other human beings and we care
    • We show and must have courage, to manage our overwhelm by prioritizing
    • We must become our own “heroes”

When it comes to Courage, you must:

    1. Own It!
    2. Honor It!
    3. Live by It!
We have but one life: “Live it with courage, live it with Pride"

The Power of Benefits in Today’s Market

    October 10, 2005 (II)

As we go through life wondering "What’s in it for us?" Perhaps a better question becomes: "What’s in it for THEM?"

Interesting, isn’t it? This kind of question makes you think outside the box prompting you to look at your products and services from a completely different angle.

When selling a service or product, think in terms of:

    • What problems are you solving?
    • What needs are you fulfilling?
    • How are your clients “benefiting” by having YOU, your products and/or services in their lives?

As long as you see yourself, your products and your services as a global BENEFIT to the rest of the human race, you will never have to think of “selling” your products, or explain what you do, ever gain. It’s all about the BENEFITS!

Next time you get ready to think of what you are selling, think of this: "What’s in it for THEM?"

Better yet: "What’s in it for Humanity?"
